Rescheduling a court hearing in California requires a judge’s approval. They have the discretion to grant or deny a request for continuance (rescheduling) of a court hearing. A request must be submitted as far before the scheduled hearing as possible. A judge can accommodate earlier requests if the opportunity still exists to allocate resources to other cases.
